Acne Skin Care Treatment Products

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF ACNE?
It's caused by an over production of oil, the irregular shedding of dead skin cells, and the build up of bacteria. A pimple forms when the oil glands in the skin are blocked. Normally the lining of the duct sheds cells that are carried to the surface of the skin by sebum. When the duct is blocked cells and sebum have accumulated forming a plug.

Dr. Alkek has always had a special interest in acne. We know that each individual is different and customize the treatment for each case. We are very aggressive in our acne treatment and want to see improvement as rapidly as our patients. We use a combination of topical and systemic treatments for home use, and office treatments which include glycol ic peels, acne surgery, and injection of acne cysts. We may also suggest anti-androgen therapy or Accutane. We also give instruction on the proper makeup, birth control pills, shaving instructions, etc. Dr. Alkek has developed a line of skin care products . Patients with acne, sensitive skin, older patients, and teens and pre-teens find them especially useful. We also give makeup instructions and suggest skin care regimens. Post-operative patients can receive camouflage makeup instruction to hide the redness after procedures such as laser, dermabrasion or chemical peel.

Skin Care Products

Alpha 12 Moisturizer : a general moisturizer containing glycol ic acid, for use on face or body,non-oily, non-comedogenic, can be used under make-up or with sun screens.
Alpha 8 pads: the same as Alpha 8 Deep Cleanser, contains 60 convenient individual pads for wiping and applying glycol ic acid to facial or body areas, can be used for acne and normal skin care.
Oil-Free Moisturizer: a light moisturizer for oily or acne-prone skin, can be used night and day under make-up, can be used with Retin-A, Vitamin-C, or other glycol ic acid products, can be used with sun screen
Alpha 8 Deep Cleanser: a toner, exfoliant with glycol ic acid, exfoliates dead skin cells and unclogs pores to be used on normal to oily skin, can safely be used for acne or normal skin care.
Vitamin C Serum: combines an anti-oxidant with hyaluronic acid, retards aging with a powerful free-radical scavenger, diminishes wrinkles and improves texture, increases skin collagen and elasticity, decreases blotchy pigmentation, giving skin a clear "glow", protects against sun and other environmental abuse.
Alpha 20 Cream: a richer cream with more glycol ic acid especially useful for sun-damaged and blotchy pigmentation of the face, head and hands may be used with a skin bleaching agent.
Chemical-Free Suncreen: protects against ultraviolet A & B oil-free, PABA-free, fragrance-free, water-resistant can be used year-round and under make-up can be used with Retin-A, Vitamin-C, or other glycolic acid products,especially useful for individuals with much sun-damage or history of skin cancer.
Skin Cleanser: a general cleanser for oily to balance skin surface-active, soap-free, oil-free.
Cleansing Gelee: a mild cleanser for dry or sensitive skin surface-active,soap-free, oil-free, anti-bacterial non-drying and leav moisturizing film safely removes eveneye make-up
