Heredity, sun exposure and repetitive facial movement can all
contribute to the development of facial wrinkles. The following
are some of the products that can be used to fill in facial lines or depressed areas.
Juvederm
Juvederm is a natural filler
used to smooth “parenthesis” lines on the sides of the nose and mouth and other areas.
It is hyaluronic acid, like Restylane and Hylaform, but more advanced.
With more cross-linkage, Juvederm causes less irritation and nodules than Restylane.
It also injects easier and costs the same as Restylane. Results will last six months to a year.
Sculptra
Sculptra is a polylactic acid product
used as a filler in the cheeks and chin for people with signs of facial fat loss or hollowness.
It provides a gradual and significant increase in lifting and filling, improving the appearance of
sunken areas. It will take at least two treatments, 8 to 12 weeks apart to achieve results lasting
two years or more.
Artefill
This is a permanent filler made
of microspheres suspended in collagen for the correction of smile lines. Artefill gives immediate
results followed by a gradual increase of the skin’s collagen. The skin creates collagen around
the microspheres to form a permanent repair. This is used for deep nasolabial folds but is not recommended for lips.
Silicone
A permanent filler especially good for
lip augmentation because it gives a gradual, natural appearance. We use FDA approved medical
grade silicone in our office to ensure quality results. It is injected as microdroplets.
The skin forms collagen around the injected microdroplets, similar to an oyster making a pearl.
Silicone is injected in three or more sessions at monthly intervals. The resulting effect is permanent.
